The Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting and improving the business community. We also support those business members who are outside the community but serve our residents. Organized in 1971, the Chamber was formed 4 years after Cedar Lake was incorporated as a town. At that time, members hoped to stimulate business growth and encourage new businesses to invest in the lakefront community. The early organizers worked hard to make Cedar Lake an ideal example of “Hometown, USA” and that is still the goal of the organization.

The Chamber encourages businesses to network with each other to discuss individual promotions and projects that will stimulate activity. These discussions often involve talking about problems that businesses face and ways to solve them.

The Chamber regularly hosts luncheons to keep everyone working in a close relationship. Events like “Business After Hours” and “Ribbon Cuttings” allow networking among business owners and employees. Other events hosted by the Chamber such as the annual Business and Organization Showcase, Kid’s Free Fishing Derby, Summerfest Beer Garden, Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra on the lakefront, Garden Walk and Golf Outing, bring people to the community to enjoy the tranquility and harmony we offer.

By operating the Welcome Center located on the lakefront, the Chamber is often the first stop people make when coming to the community. The Center offers our members a chance to put their business brochures on display and their business cards. The staff is knowledgeable about the community and local business and can offer immediate information about members. The Welcome Center offers new residents an information packet which includes a community analysis, map and membership directory.

It will be a pleasure to discuss this great organization with you at your convenience. Please call Executive Director Diane Jostes at (219) 374-6157 for more information or email to: [email protected].
